Youth Development
Youth development: focused on promoting the physical, educational, and life skills necessary to prepare and empower young people aged 8-18 to undertake leadership roles in their communities and to bring success in their personal lives through its winter, summer and school-year programs, Fund raising Program, Entrepreneur’s Festival, Job Fair. Our programs engage youth in meaningful skill-building activities that allow for leadership development and personal growth, while also equipping young people with the knowledge and skills to become healthy, competent, coping and contributing individuals together under one roof to interact and enhance communication and socialization. The program focuses on developing and enhancing young people’s creativity while also building their knowledge around an important social issue such as poverty or climate change. Examples include the preservation of our planet and building sustainable practices, poverty, gender equality, water, and education. During the Festival young people exhibit their works made in different formats. All works of art are encouraged and poetry, music, film, photography, animation, graphic design, website development, painting, craft and drawing, various activities starting from sports, drama and rally, campaign as well as raising their voice to authorities when needed, are some of the disciplines that are normally represented at the Festival. We believe in inviting youth and teachers from a wide range of schools to participate, so that we can have youth from all backgrounds under one roof to share and exchange. We expect dozens of youth to participate, and hundreds of visitors to attend the exhibit and performances. Providing practical solutions to practical problems is the key here as the program is designed to show students the difference between 'showing Science' and 'doing Science'. The idea is to encourage students not just to create a model but create something tangible which works and in turn does solve a practical problem. Allowing and motivating them to think and work out of the box with their own imagination helps increase their creativity and teaches a problem-solving approach. As they grow a love for the scientific method, they not only enrich their experiences in the classroom but also develop an approach to the world that seeks to solve problems rather than accept them.
Participants' reflection: it’s a process of learning through entertainment. We learned about punctuality, mutual respect through different programmes. This project started to create positive impact, because in this part of the world our young people have enough potentialities but lack opportunities.
"Better mutual understanding means to know the world from world perspective. This guides to feel the humanity in most diverse situation. We need a common platform to create mutual understanding between young people beyond the geographical borders. I know we can do the job right through music, creative writing, recitation and documentaries."
Generally we provide lectures on one of the following topics in Lifestyle class.
